| Automotive components supplier Plastocell has its business processes firmly under control - with abas Business Software | |||
| The revenues of European automotive component suppliers are shrinking.
High debts and limited equity ratios even aggravate the situation. With
increasing competition and intense cost pressure it is the co-operation
of those concerned along the value-added chain that decides about
business success. How to fight keen competition successfully using
state-of-the art business IT, can be seen by the example of Plastocell,
a medium-sized automotive components supplier. With abas Business
Software, a flexible, future-proof ERP software is in use that is
capable of adapting to the changing requirements of Plastocell. The
abas Business Software contains an integrated EDI (Electronic Data
Interchange) function which is an important criterion when choosing a
business software for automotive component suppliers. Now EDI has
become a part of the ERP complete business solution. For the first time
Plastocell is actually profiting from the possibilities EDI has been
providing for a long time. Stefan Kropp, authorized representative and Head of Quality Management at Plastocell, is optimistic about the future: “The abas Business Software supports continuous improvement efforts in our company. We are able to open up markets for our new products, for instance rail vehicles, without requiring any additional staff.” And smiling he adds: “We are well equipped for the challenges of the future”. |

| abas Business Software: Functions enhanced | |||
| abas Business Software (ERP, PPC, MRP, eBusiness) is continuously
developed. Thanks to this evolutionary system approach, the user can
always make use of state-of-the art technologies and extensive function
expansions. Thus, company specific adaptations remain intact in the new
version and the user is spared time and cost-intensive modifications.
The current 2004 version of the abas Business Software offers a broad
spectrum of innovations, e.g. in scheduling, production and materials
management, group accounting and consolidation, as well as in cost
accounting. Scheduling The 2004 version of the ERP solution for medium-sized companies provided by ABAS offers some innovations and enhancements in scheduling. There are, for example, different options concerning the lead time scheduling. Now products can be assigned to scheduling groups. Therefore, the user can determine if a product will be included in a scheduling run or not. Moreover, various evaluations were enhanced. Production and materials management The highlight of version 2004 in production and materials management is the new final costing. There are also innovations in warehouse management: new information systems enable detailed stock level information and the shortening of the scheduling run. Group accounting and consolidation The functions group accounting and consolidation are the basis for the creation of the group reporting. In version 2004 the advance VAT return can now also be consolidated for multiple individual clients. Cost accounting The valuation of the production capacity can be used independently of the material valuation. There are also innovations in the Internal Account Activity Allocation (IAAA). Further innovations and enhancements Other functional areas of the abas Business Software have also undergone improvements, as for instance materials valuations, interfaces, cost and financial accounting, purchasing and sales, EDI, administration and graphical user interface. The abas Web Applications, which are being used to operate the ERP data on the Intra- or Internet using a browser, were also expanded. Further applications such as the Web Shop or customer/supplier information systems can now also be integrated. |
