abas eB: flexible eBusiness solution for medium-sized businesses  
     
  Karlsruhe, September 26, 2005 – With abas eB the ERP and eBusiness provider ABAS provides a highly flexible Internet solution to medium-sized businesses. On the basis of ready-made Web Applications, such as e.g. Webshop or Service Center, businesses can construct their solution as they desire and incorporate their own ideas. With abas eB users are able to use all advantages of a flexible, eBusiness software suitable for medium-sized businesses. The eBusiness product combines the ERP know-how of many years with the most modern Internet technologies.  
     
  Manifold application options  
     
 

On the basis of ready-made Web Applications companies can construct their solutions as they desire and incorporate their own ideas. Fields of application are for example shop, order information, service processing, connection of external systems, customer/management information systems or the connection of suppliers. Additional applications are quickly set up. The standard application can be combined in any way and adjusted to the individual requirements - e.g. regarding design and functionality.

  • Webshop: The abas eB Webshop provides a purchase order function for anonymous and logged in users. Shopping carts can be comfortably saved as models. This product search can be carried out in a user-friendly manner according to ID number, search word or as a full-text search. Further functions are e.g. pricing/price determination, the calculation of special offers, cross selling, up selling as well as providing accessories.
  • Sales order tracking: Logged on users can get a detailed overview of the running and completed sales orders by using the abas eB sales order information. Moreover, it is possible to integrate documents from a DMS system (DMS = document management system).
  • Registration: Users can either be registered as customer or prospective customer - different rights and functions will be provided accordingly.
  • Service Center: This function (planned for CeBIT 2006) provides among other things access to BOMs and BOM processing, access to the product and order history as well as the control of the module and component exchange.
  
     
  Efficient solution with strong arguments  
     
  Companies that are already using abas ERP as well as users of other ERP systems can benefit from the advantages of the eBusiness solution: abas eB offers a completely integrated ERP system in which the application logic is realized with database, a full function range and efficient interfaces for connecting external systems. The data maintenance of the information provided on the Internet, e.g. the customer or product data in a Webshop, is easy and comfortable. Business partners can be connected via abas eB; it is also possible to make data from external applications, such as CAD, CAQ, CRM or archiving systems available on the Internet. The information and service range can be extended by using Web services. Moreover, the eBusiness software contains extensive tools using which adaptations can be carried out fast and easily so that project costs can be decreased. The use of modern Java technology makes it possible to run abas eB on all current Linux platforms and Windows XP. The Web solution is scalable and even if demand is increasing and more access takes place, stability can be maintained and the response time stays in a reasonable range. All abas eB applications can be created and operated multilingual - at present more than 25 languages are available. abas eB grows with the customer’s demands and always remains upgradeable.  
     
  eBusiness projects in practice  
     
  The most divers applications, such as Webshop, sales order tracking, warranty processing and many more, were already implemented with abas eB.
Digital Data Communications GmbH, a special distributor for network and communication technology, is for example using an abas eB Webshop while the pricing takes place in the ERP system. Different levels of hierarchy in the product catalog are represented in different ways. Gerhard Schleiken, CEO of DDC: “In the abas eB Webshop it is not only possible to view all products 24/7. The individual terms, as well as the current delivery availability are recorded for all registered customers (currently about 1,850). All the data necessary are available in the ERP system and are displayed in the Webshop in realtime.”		  
     
  KAMEI Webshop with abas eBAnother successful abas eB project is in operation at KAMEI GmbH & Co. KG. The company, located in Wolfsburg, represents innovative car components. Marian Meier-Andrae, sales and marketing manager, summarizes: „Our abas eB based Webshop opens an interesting form of sales for us. We have opted for abas eB because we were able to implement Web solutions without the connection to an ERP system. An important advantage is that abas eB contains all necessary functions for a Webshop and that we can later connect it to an ERP system.”  
     
  Leser Webshop with abas eBRalf Leser, CEO of Leser GmbH, is also convinced of the eBusiness solution by ABAS: “The abas Webshop is integrated into the design of our entire Web presence. Our customers can now order safely and comfortably 24/7. Various comfortable administration options are available, e.g. the creation of different delivery addresses or a sales order and invoice overview. Previous sales orders can be accessed for repeat orders. With the online shop we are able to provide the perfect service to the Leser customers.” Since July 2005, Leser GmbH, a specialist for sophisticated packaging solutions located in Lahr, has integrated the industry’s largest Webshop (www.leser.de).
